This presentation will include a brief overview of Maryland two 529
plans, but will focus on the results of research of Maryland families
regarding their college savings behavior, as well as next steps in the
growth and evolution of 529 plans in Maryland and across the country.
Our presenter, Joan Marshall, is the Executive Director of the College
Savings Plans of Maryland and is currently Co-Chair of the Federal
Initiatives Committee of the College Savings Plans Network, which is the
leading national voice and industry association for 529 plans. Topics to
be covered include current and proposed federal legislation for
enhancing 529 plans, as well as the nationwide development of ABLE
(Achieving a Better Life Experience) accounts for disabled individuals
that was passed by Congress and signed into law in December 2014.
