AACC: Employment Law Update and a Primer on Bitcoin

The first part of this seminar will provide a general overview of the basic wage and law compliance issues and recent trends in the US and Maryland. The second part will provide attendees an introduction to the world of Bitcoin and Blockchain technologies.

The speakers for this seminar are:

  • Charles H. Henderson is a principal at the law firm of McNamee Hosea in Greenbelt, Maryland. His primary focus is on the management side of employment litigation and counseling.
  • Spencer Setters, an IT Asset Manger, at Anne Arundel Community College has been in various areas of technology for 15 years. He has been involved in the Bitcoin community since 2011 and has done extensive research in that area.
Learning Objectives

Upon completion of the course the participants will:

  • Have a working knowledge of basic wage and hour law compliance issues and recent trends.
  • Have a basic understanding of Bitcoin, Blockchain and other cryptocurrencies.

  • General overview of basic wage and hour law compliance issues.
  • Overview of the new employment laws in Maryland including the Maryland Healthy Working Families Act, the Disclosing Sexual Harassment in the Workplace Act of 2018 and the General Contractor Liability for Unpaid Wages Act.
  • Introduction to the world of Bitcoin and Blockchain.
  • Learn how the different technologies behind Bitcoin work and what are some uses for Bitcoin and Blockchain
