James Buckley

AICPA Instructor Biography James Buckley, CPA PricewaterhouseCoopers/Detroit, Michigan James (Jim) Buckley has over ten years progressive governmental accounting experience including supervision, budgeting, auditing, investing, financial statement preparation and single audit compliance. Jim also has comprehensive tax experience researching, planning, and preparing corporate, partnership, individual, and multi-state tax returns, audits, and appeals. He has knowledge in property, trust, estate, sales and use tax preparation. Jim currently serves as an Audit Manager with PricewaterhouseCoopers. His duties include managing, planning, and coordinating all phases of client engagements or projects to assure quality of client service is provided. He identifies client needs and recommends improvements to provide special services, and makes business presentations to current or potential clients and participates in marketing activities. Jim also provides leadership in government practices by contributing to staff development activities such as recruiting, training, and counseling. Jim has previous experience serving as the Controller for the City of Port Huron, Michigan. As Controller he directed, coordinated, and prepared the annual budget and financial statements ensuring compliance with state and government reporting agencies. He also has experience as a Senior Tax Specialist and Senior Tax Accountant. Mr. Buckley is a member of a national task force to develop guidance and training for implementation of GASB 34 and 35 and has received the Government Finance Officers Association "Certificate of Achievement" reviewer. He is a committee member of the Michigan Committee on Governmental Accounting and Auditing, a member of the Government Finance Officers Association, and a member of the Accounting Standards Committee for the Michigan Municipal Finance Officers Association.
