Advocacy
Promoting and protecting the CPA license — protecting your investment in the CPA license through our advocacy efforts.
Thanks to our members, the MACPA has one of the strongest grassroots efforts in Maryland. Year in and year out, the collective voice of CPAs has helped to enact or prevent legislation that has enormous impact on how CPAs conduct business. Peer review, CPA mobility, Sarbanes-Oxley, tax preparer regulation, sales tax on professional services — these exemplify the types of issues we are called on to advocate or oppose.
Economic and political issues that affect CPAs are constantly changing. Throughout the year, MACPA helps members stay current on legislation that could have an impact on our profession.
CPA Day in Annapolis
The annual January gathering of CPAs to meet, greet and persuade legislators on issues affecting the profession. More than 100 MACPA members take part in this perennial highlight of the legislative season.

Town Hall meetings
MACPA delivers professional issues updates across the state several times a year, to help you stay on top of your profession. Each update is worth 4 - 8 hours of CPE. Attend two updates each year and your MACPA dues pay for themselves! Spring and fall town hall professional updates illuminate issues of critical professional interest.
CPA PAC (Committee on Political Action)
The CPA Committee on Political Action is an important part of the grassroots political effort.
The PAC enables the CPA profession to support legislators who share our views. It does this by making contributions to key leaders and members of the legislature. It is more important than ever that we continue to support those who protect our interests. The profession has enjoyed a long list of legislative victories, but none of those successes would have been accomplished without the strong support—in person, by mail and email, and by cash contributions—of MACPA members.
Get involved in the political process and ensure that we protect the integrity of your credential and the interests of you, your organization, your clients and customers.
Above all, MACPA and its members constantly reaffirm the CPA role of protector of the public interest.
