Is your Maryland individual CPA license currently in inactive status?

  1. Here is a link to the online renewal process.
  2. You must have acquired 80 hours of CPE in the prior two years, including 4 hours of ethics.
  3. It is very important to take note of your license expiration date since it never changes.
  4. Therefore, it is to your benefit to coordinate your license reactivation with this date in mind.  For example, if you follow the steps to reactivate your license, pay the $80 renewal fee and submit 80 hours of CPE on June 1, 2009, and your license expiration date is Oct. 15, 2009, you will be required to earn another 80 hours of CPE and pay another $80 renewal fee by the October expiration date.
  5. You may renew your license as early as 60 days in advance of the expiration date. Using the above scenario, it would be worthwhile to wait until Aug. 15 to reactivate your license and avoid the need to report an the additional 80 hours of CPE and pay another renewal fee.
  6. Please contact the State Board of Public Accountancy for clarification on this process:
