CollegeBound Foundation seeks volunteer CPAs
Posted Oct. 20, 2008
The CollegeBound Foundation is a non-profit that enables Baltimore City public high school students attend and graduate college. We have a comprehensive college-access program in 28 public schools in Baltimore City.
We are launching a new workshop for our families, which we call the "Dollars for Scholars" project. Federal income tax information must accompany the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) registration form. This form is necessary for our students to receive financial aid for college.
CollegeBound seeks accountants willing to volunteer on Feb. 8 and / or Feb. 14, 2009 to assist parents with 2008 Federal income tax completion while their children register for financial aid eligibility. (Note: Estimated taxes are acceptable when applying for financial aid.) The programs will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Feb. 8 and 14 at Goucher College in Towson and Baltimore City Community College (BCCC Liberty Heights campus).
Volunteers will have access to the Internet and a printer, but we ask if they would bring their own laptops since they will most likely have the software necessary to complete a tax document. (If they do not have a laptop but can use Internet-based programs, please let us know and we'll try to find something.) For more information or to sign up, please contact Program Director Jimmy Tadlock at 410-783-2905, ext. 209 or e-mail him at jtadlock@collegeboundfoundation.org.
