Hollerbach wins '08 MACPA Public Service Award

ROCKVILLE, Md., May 30, 2008 -– John P. (Jack) Hollerbach, founder, president and CEO of HarVest Bank of Maryland, has been named the recipient of the Maryland Association of CPAs' 2008 Public Service Award.

The award will be presented June 17 at the MACPA’s Business and Accounting Expo in Baltimore. Mr. Hollerbach also will be among those being considered for the 2008 AICPA National Public Service Award.

Mr. Hollerbach has been active in public service throughout his career. He has served on a variety of boards and is a trustee of the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, the Potomac Ridge Behavioral Health Foundation and the Maryland Chamber of Commerce. He is also a committee member of the Maryland Technology Development Corporation's Working Capital Loan Fund and Maryland Incubator Company of the Year program.

Mr. Hollerbach has been active in projects such as the Maryland State Voluntary Cleanup Task Force, the Howard County Bond Affordability Commission (chair), the Howard County Solid Waste Funding Board (chair), the Baltimore City Brownfields Commission, the Maryland chapter of the Arthritis Foundation, Friends of the Maryland State Archives and the Maryland Historical Society Council.

Mr. Hollerbach, a longtime member of the MACPA and the AICPA, opened HarVest Bank of Maryland for business on Nov. 15, 2004 and operates three branches in Montgomery County with $200 million in assets. Community involvement has been integral to the success of the bank, and each member of the staff is challenged to play a leadership role in a non-profit organization within the bank’s footprint.

With more than 37 years of financial management experience in banking and industry, Mr. Hollerbach is also president of Hollerbach & Associates LLC, a management consulting firm. He also has been chief financial officer of public and private companies in the banking, technology and contracting fields.

Mr. Hollerbach earned BBA and MBA degrees from the Iona College Hagan School of Business and holds the Certificate in Environmental Studies from Johns Hopkins University.
