MACPA launches powerful new Web site

www.MACPA.org now highly automated, better organized, easier to use

You asked, and we've delivered.

In response to member feedback, the MACPA has launched a vastly improved version of its Web site, www.MACPA.org, that is better organized, easier to use and includes powerful new tools that will help members better manage their membership ... and their careers.

“This is a fantastic new tool for members,” said MACPA Executive Director Tom Hood. “The content is rich and easy to find, our members’ online transactions are now done in real time, the layout is professionally designed with feedback from members, and the site looks great.”

After taking a few brief moments to create their online accounts, members will find a number of new or improved features that are designed to improve their MACPA experience. They include:

  • Improved content and design: Members can quickly find recommended content and CPE courses based on their areas of interest. All content has been better organized with an easier-to-read layout. Readers will be able to increase or decrease the site’s text size with a click of a mouse.
  • Improved CPE catalog and shopping cart: Transactions are now made in real time. When members register for an event, they can add the event to their Outlook calendar directly from the registration page. Discounts are shown at the time of registration, and when a class is full, members will have the option of joining a waiting list online.
  • Tools for firm administrators, including the ability to register multiple people for CPE simultaneously and to pay dues for an entire firm at once.
  • A free e-mail address for MACPA members: The new site offers members the opportunity to use a professional e-mail address with the mdcpa.org extension (for instance, YourName@mdcpa.org). The e-mail system includes all of the features found in other well-known systems, including spam and content filtering, an online address book, auto-responders and the ability to check e-mail from any computer at any time. Members can even forward e-mail to and from other systems such as AOL or Yahoo, allowing them to use the e-mail address on business cards and stationery.
  • A “My Membership” area that allows members to pay dues, view their CPE and events calendar, monitor their CPE transcript (which is report-ready for submission to the State Board of Public Accountancy), update their personal and professional profiles, find their legislators and update their Web site account.

The site also features a powerful new search engine; an extensive link library that allows people to view, submit and rank links to other Web sites; automated, “self-serve” features, including a new classified ad system that allows advertisers to compose, submit and pay for ads online; and RSS feeds that deliver our content directly to your desktop.

“The faster and easier members can conduct business with us, the more time they can spend doing what’s really important – serving their clients and companies and protecting the public interest,” said Doug Shaner, the MACPA’s information technology manager. “This powerful new Web site allows them to do that.
