Founder and co-executive director of Learning Power, Inc., a 501C (3) corporation that operates a tutoring center for disadvantaged youth in Bowie and provides leadership training and life skills. Named Woman of the Year for 2000 by the Bowie-Crofton chapter of the Business and Professional Women’s Association. Served as vice chair on the Governor’s Commission on Hispanic Affairs from January 2004 to January 2008.

Holly G. Edington, CPA

Currently serves as chair of the Board of Directors of the House of Ruth Maryland, where she has been a board member since 1999. A member of the Audit Committee for Catholic Charities. A graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, with a bachelor’s degree in business administration. Earned a master’s degree in real estate development from the Johns Hopkins University. A member of SHRM, CHRA and HRPS.

Has consulted on accounting education for Peoples’ Republic of China and various businesses in the energy, pharmaceutical and publication sectors. As a principal in tax consulting firm, conducts research and quality assurance reviews. Has also served on several not-for-profit boards.

 


Anoop N. Mehta, CPA

Notable: An active member of the MACPA since 1992. Served as a member of the association’s Government Contractors’ Committee for nearly 10 years and as chair for two years. Chair of the Governor's Workforce Investment Board's (GWIB) Aerospace Leadership Implementation Team, which seeks to describe the current and projected aerospace employment picture in Maryland. The team also aims to collect data from the governmental, non-profit and commercial sub-sectors to identify the main barriers and strengths for sustaining the human resources needed by the aerospace industry in Maryland.



Kathleen Murphy
President and CEO, Maryland Bankers Association

Notable: At-large member of the MACPA's Board of Directors. Served for 13 years as director of community banking for the American Bankers Association in Washington, D.C.  Prior to joining the ABA, served as director of communications for the Ohio Bankers Association and in the Financial Card Services Division of Bank One, both located in Columbus. Among many volunteer positions, serves on the Executive Committee of the Maryland Coalition for Financial Literacy, as president of the Maryland Government Relations Association, and in various capacities with the American Bankers Association and America’s Community Bankers.
