Notable: An MACPA member since 1984. Also a member of the AICPA and the D.C. Institute of CPAs. Winner of the MACPA’s 2005 Public Service Award. Founder and co-executive director of Learning Power, Inc., a 501C (3) corporation that operates a tutoring center for disadvantaged youth in Bowie and provides leadership training and life skills. Named Woman of the Year for 2000 by the Bowie-Crofton chapter of the Business and Professional Women’s Association. Served as vice chair on the Governor’s Commission on Hispanic Affairs from January 2004 to January 2008.


Holly G. Edington, CPA

Notable: An MACPA member since 1988. Previously, was director, Corporate Human Resources for Black & Decker and vice president and division controller for The Rouse Company. Currently serves as chair of the Board of Directors of the House of Ruth Maryland, where she has been a board member since 1999. A member of the Audit Committee for Catholic Charities. A graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, with a bachelor’s degree in business administration. Earned a master’s degree in real estate development from the Johns Hopkins University. A member of SHRM, CHRA and HRPS.

 
Herbert J. Geary III, CPA

Notable: An MACPA member since 1988. A member of the MACPA’s Eastern Shore Chapter Board of Directors from 1991-95; served as Eastern Shore Chapter president from 1994-95. Past president, treasurer and board member of the Green Hill Yacht and Country Club. Past president of the Salisbury Optimist Club. Past chairman of the St. Francis De Sales Parish Finance Council and the St. Francis De Sales School Development Committee and Foundation. Past treasurer of the Wicomico County Library Board of Trustees and the Wicomico Rotary Club and Paul Harris Fellow. Past part-time faculty member at Wor-Wic Community College. Past board member of the Salisbury University Varsity Club. Past member of the Wicomico County Performance Audit Group. Past board member of Deer’s Head Center Foundation. An officer in the Maryland Army National Guard from 1981-89, specializing in the training of nuclear, biological and chemical warfare with the 29th Infantry Division.

 


Anoop N. Mehta, CPA

Notable: An active member of the MACPA since 1992. Served as a member of the association’s Government Contractors’ Committee for nearly 10 years and as chair for two years. Chair of the Governor's Workforce Investment Board's (GWIB) Aerospace Leadership Implementation Team, which seeks to describe the current and projected aerospace employment picture in Maryland. The team also aims to collect data from the governmental, non-profit and commercial sub-sectors to identify the main barriers and strengths for sustaining the human resources needed by the aerospace industry in Maryland.

 

 


Joselin R. Martin, CPA

Notable: An MACPA member since 2000. First became active with the Business and Industry Committee as a result of attending the MACPA’s Business and Industry Conference; now serves on the conference committee. Attended her first CPA Day as an industry member in 2008. Board member of Institute for Certified Construction Industry Financial Professionals since 2008. Member of the Accounting and Reporting Committee of Construction Financial Management Association since 2006.

 

 


Kathleen Murphy
President and CEO, Maryland Bankers Association

Notable: At-large member of the MACPA's Board of Directors. Served for 13 years as director of community banking for the American Bankers Association in Washington, D.C.  Prior to joining the ABA, served as director of communications for the Ohio Bankers Association and in the Financial Card Services Division of Bank One, both located in Columbus. Among many volunteer positions, serves on the Executive Committee of the Maryland Coalition for Financial Literacy, as president of the Maryland Government Relations Association, and in various capacities with the American Bankers Association and America’s Community Bankers. 

 

Byron Patrick, CPA.CITP, MCSE

Title: Co-founder / CEO

Notable: An MACPA member since 1999. A member of the MACPA’s Structure and Governance Under 35 Task Force in 2000. A founding member and past chair of the MACPA’s New / Young Professionals Network (NYPN). Remains active as a NYPN advisor. Current member of the MACPA’s Technology Committee. Has participated in a number of additional MACPA task forces, committees and initiatives. Co-founded Hosted Solutions after five years as IT director at KAWG&F, where he helped the firm become the first to have virtual offices in Second Life.

 

Beverly Richard, CPA, MST

Notable: An MACPA member since 2001. Chair of the MACPA’s State Taxation Committee and a member of the association’s Legislative Executive Committee. First became active with the MACPA as a member of the “Tomorrow’s CPA” program and as a member of the State Taxation Committee. A frequent speaker at MACPA events and contributor of articles to the Statement. Often serves as liaison between the MACPA and the Maryland Comptroller’s Office. Has provided guidance to the state’s legislative body on important tax matters.
