The ethics exam

 

After passing the Uniform CPA Examination, you must complete the home-study course in professional ethics that is offered by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. You must pass this exam to become a licensed CPA in Maryland. Successful candidates will also receive information on how to apply for original licensure in Maryland.

The AICPA's self-study course is "Professional Ethics: The AICPA’s Comprehensive Course" (course code number 732310). The same course is also available on CD (738391HS). You may order the course on AICPA Web site or by calling (888) 777-7077. The cost is $123.75. There is a 100-question exam at the end of the course you must pass at 90 percent to receive certification. All the steps necessary to get certification are explained in the instructions to the exam. You have one year from the date of purchase to take the exam.
